What happened
A skydiving mission departed from Lyon-Corbas Airfield when a single-engine aircraft took off carrying ten people, consisting of one pilot and nine skydivers. Shortly after departing the runway, the aircraft experienced significant issues with its flight controls during the initial climb phase. This loss of control led to an aerodynamic stall, causing the plane to crash in the vicinity of the airfield's runway end.
Despite the impact, all 10 occupants managed to exit the wreckage without sustaining any injuries. The aircraft itself suffered extensive damage and was declared a total loss.
Findings
Investigations into the accident determined that the stall occurred after the pilot decreased engine power. The primary factor contributing to the crash was an incorrect elevator trim configuration. This error was attributed to the pilot's failure to follow established flight preparation protocols and published procedures prior to takeoff.
