What happened
On 24 June 2008, at approximately 16:21 UTC, a Piper PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior II, registration G-BSVM, was involved in a ground collision at Biggin Hill Airport, Kent. The aircraft had completed a private flight from Le Touquet, France, without incident. Upon arrival, the pilot taxied the aircraft toward the apron. While the aircraft was being manoeuvred under the direction of a marshaller using visual signals, the left wingtip of the aircraft made contact with the right wing of another Piper PA-28 that was parked at the time.
The investigation
The investigation was based on the aircraft accident report form provided by the pilot. The examination focused on the taxiing sequence and the interaction between the moving aircraft and the stationary vehicle. The investigation confirmed that there were no injuries to the pilot or the three passengers on board during the event. The impact resulted in damage specifically to the wing tip and the fairing of the aircraft.
