What happened
A flight departing from Guarantã do Norte, destined for a remote location near km 180 of the Transamazonica Road, was interrupted by a violent incident inside the cabin. During the flight, a physical altercation broke out between the two passengers on board, resulting in the death of one individual. Following the struggle, the pilot reportedly killed the assailant.
In the aftermath of the violence, the pilot attempted an emergency landing, ultimately ditching the twin engine airplane in the Rio Novo, near Jardim do Ouro. While the pilot was subsequently taken into custody by authorities, the bodies of both passengers remained missing following the crash.
Findings
Investigations by Brazilian authorities focused on the nature of the flight, as there were suspicions regarding illegal activity. However, no weapons, ammunition, or narcotics were recovered from the wreckage or the site. While the circumstances of the flight remained under scrutiny, investigators were unable to substantiate claims of illegal cargo or objectives.
