Incident
A twin-engine airplane departed Guarantã do Norte on a flight to a remote area located at kilometer 180 on the Transamazonica Road. During the flight, both passengers became involved in a physical altercation in the cabin, resulting in one passenger being killed. The pilot was reportedly able to subdue and kill the other passenger, described as the assassin. Following the incident, the pilot decided to attempt an emergency landing and ditched the airplane in the Rio Novo near the locality of Jardim do Ouro.
Aftermath
After the ditching, the pilot was arrested by Brazilian authorities. A subsequent search of the aircraft and the area yielded no drugs, weapons, or ammunition. Additionally, the bodies of both passengers were not recovered. Authorities suspected that the flight may have had an illegal purpose, but they were unable to prove such allegations.
