What happened
During the initial climb phase following departure from Bogotá-Guaymaral Airport, the crew reported a failure of the right engine to air traffic control. In response to the mechanical issue, the aircraft was authorized to perform an emergency return to the airfield, following a circuit pattern to approach runway 11.
While on final approach, the aircraft lost altitude and struck a wooded area situated approximately 800 meters before the runway threshold. The impact was followed by a significant post-crash fire that resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft. There were four fatalities among the occupants of the aircraft.
