What happened
A charter operation traveling from Campo de Marte to Porto Velho, with a planned stop in São José do Rio Preto, ended in a fatal accident during the departure phase. The twin engine airplane was transporting two crew members and six passengers at the time of the incident.
Shortly after departing from runway 12, the aircraft entered its initial climb when it experienced a sudden change in attitude. The plane banked to the left and the nose pitched downward, leading to a collision with several houses in the Carandiru district. The impact caused the aircraft to burst into flames upon hitting the residential structures.
The accident resulted in seven fatalities, including both pilots, four passengers, and one person on the ground. Additionally, four passengers sustained serious injuries during the crash.
Findings
Investigations into the accident determined that the primary reason for the loss of control was a failure of a blade on the left engine.
