What happened
On the morning of the accident, a single-engine aircraft departed from runway 12 at Stockholm-Bromma Airport at 07:03 local time. The flight was operating as a charter service destined for Biggin Hill, carrying a total of three people, including the pilot and two passengers.
During the initial climb phase, the pilot received instructions to execute a right turn while continuing to ascend toward FL040. While the aircraft was at an altitude of approximately 2,200 feet, it entered an uncontrolled descent. During this descent, the aircraft suffered a partial disintegration in mid-air before impacting a residential neighborhood in Åkeslund, located south of the airport. The impact occurred roughly three minutes after the initial takeoff.
The crash resulted in the destruction of several apartment buildings and vehicles within the Åkeslund area. Despite the damage to ground infrastructure, no injuries were reported among the residents. However, the aircraft was completely destroyed, and all three occupants were killed in the accident.
Findings
At the time of the incident, meteorological conditions were described as marginal, characterized by the presence of clouds and turbulence. The investigation noted that the aircraft experienced a partial disintegration in flight prior to the impact.
