What happened
During the final approach phase at Anderson-Darlington Field Airport, the pilot of a single-engine airplane attempted to execute a go-around maneuver. This decision was likely prompted by the aircraft being at an excessive altitude relative to the approach path. During this procedure, the pilot lost control of the aircraft.
The plane subsequently struck an open field situated approximately three miles away from the airport. Upon impact, the aircraft caught fire. There were four fatalities among the occupants of the aircraft, with no survivors reported.
Findings
Preliminary details suggest that the loss of control occurred while the crew was attempting to correct the flight path during the go-around. The crash resulted in a post-impact fire that consumed the wreckage.
