What happened
A local solo training flight departed from Irkutsk involving an aircraft registered CCCP-T118. At the same time, another similar airplane, registered CCCP-T190, was also conducting a local training exercise. Both pilots had been assigned to specific training zones for their operations.
During the flight, the pilot of the CCCP-T118 changed heading and left the designated area. This deviation led to a mid-air collision with the other aircraft. Following the impact, both planes entered a dive and crashed in the vicinity of the airport. The accident resulted in two fatalities, as both pilots were killed.
Findings
The official investigation concluded that the accident was caused by a lack of discipline on the part of the pilot operating the CCCP-T118. This individual changed their heading and flew out of the designated area, thereby violating instructions and published procedures.
