What happened
During a flight from Kedrovy to Tomsk, an aircraft operating at 12,000 feet encountered severe icing conditions. While cruising, the aircraft suffered a simultaneous failure of both engines. The crew attempted to perform restart procedures for both powerplants, but these efforts were unsuccessful.
In response to the loss of power, the crew initiated a descent to a lower altitude to facilitate an emergency landing within the taiga forest. During the landing sequence, the aircraft struck the terrain and flipped, coming to rest in an inverted position. The wreckage was located at approximately 14:30 local time, situated roughly 52 km southeast of Kedrovy.
Findings
All 17 occupants survived the impact, though some individuals sustained injuries, including a broken leg suffered by the captain. The aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss. The primary factor contributing to the incident was the simultaneous failure of both engines while operating in icing conditions.
