What happened
During an attempt to depart from an unpaved, waterlogged runway located in Tigil, the crew initiated an aborted takeoff because the aircraft failed to accelerate to the necessary airspeed. Following this initial attempt, the crew proceeded with a second takeoff maneuver. During this second sequence, the aircraft experienced a loss of directional control and drifted toward the left side of the runway.
The aircraft subsequently veered off the active surface and collided with an embankment. The movement ended when the plane came to a stop in a nearby ditch. Although the aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss, there were no injuries reported among the 11 occupants on board.
Findings
- The runway conditions were characterized by being unpaved and saturated with water.
- The aircraft was unable to maintain sufficient speed during the first takeoff attempt, leading to the decision to abort.
