What happened

On a scheduled flight from Naryan-Mar Airport to Kharuta, an Antonov An-2TP—which had been modified in 2014 with a TPE331 turbine engine—experienced a catastrophic loss of control. The aircraft, operating as flight NYA9280, was carrying two crew members and 11 passengers at the time of the accident.

During the initial climb, while the aircraft was at an altitude of approximately 30 to 40 meters, it transitioned into an extreme nose-up pitch. This maneuver led to a right-hand roll and a subsequent stall. The aircraft then impacted a field covered in snow.

The accident resulted in an immediate one fatality among the passengers, with 12 other occupants sustaining injuries. The toll increased following the crash, as two additional passengers died later that evening, and a fourth passenger passed away on 10 January 2018.
