What happened
During an agricultural mission in the vicinity of Sukharevo, located approximately 23 km southwest of Nizhnekamsk, an aircraft was performing low-altitude crop-spraying operations. While the aircraft was in the cruise phase of flight, the engine experienced a sudden loss of power. This loss of thrust was triggered by the formation of ice within the carburetor.
In response to the engine failure, the crew initiated an emergency descent to perform a forced landing. During this maneuver, the aircraft struck a high-voltage power line. The impact resulted in the total destruction of the aircraft.
Findings
- The primary factor leading to the engine failure was carburetor icing.
- The collision with electrical infrastructure occurred during the crew's attempt to land the disabled plane.
- The incident resulted in two injuries involving the crew members.
