What happened
During a scheduled crop-spraying mission departing from an airstrip located near Tyugalbuga in the Novaya Malykla district of the Ulyanovsk region, an aircraft experienced a loss of directional control. While attempting to depart, the aircraft was subjected to both tailwind and crosswind conditions. During the takeoff phase, the plane drifted leftward, deviating from the intended runway centerline.
As the aircraft exited the paved surface, it struck a dung heap approximately one meter in height. The impact with the manure pile brought the flight to a halt. While the aircraft sustained damage that rendered it a total loss, zero fatalities and zero injuries were reported, as both members of the flight crew were able to exit the wreckage safely.
Findings
- The incident was influenced by unfavorable wind conditions, specifically a tailwind and crosswind component during the takeoff roll.
- The deviation from the runway path led to the collision with agricultural debris.
