Accident Overview
On a skydiving mission operated for the Azov Flying Club, an aircraft departed from Azov-Almaz Airfield carrying 12 skydivers and one pilot. Shortly after takeoff, while climbing, the engine lost power. The pilot attempted to return to the airfield for an emergency landing. During this maneuver, the aircraft lost altitude and crashed in an open field near the airport, bursting into flames upon impact.
Occupants and Injuries
All 13 individuals aboard the aircraft were rescued. One passenger sustained minor injuries; no other injuries were reported. The aircraft was totally destroyed by fire.
Probable Cause
The official investigation determined the probable cause to be a loss of engine power for unknown reasons.
