Accident Summary
A single-engine aircraft experienced an engine failure while on final approach to Managua-Augusto Cesar Sandino Airport. The aircraft had departed from the same airport for a local post-maintenance check flight following an engine overhaul. On board were five individuals, including engineers and pilots. Following the engine failure, the pilot-in-command attempted an emergency landing. The aircraft crashed in an open field and came to rest inverted approximately 800 meters short of the runway threshold. All five occupants escaped with minor injuries. The aircraft sustained damage beyond repair.
