What happened
On the afternoon of the accident, the N28JV, an aircraft type (not specified in source, but registration provided), departed from WMKL with eight people on board, destined for WMSA. The flight was proceeding normally until approximately 1446 LT, when the pilot contacted the WMSA air traffic tower to report being established on the NBD Runway 15 approach and requested permission to land. The tower issued landing clearance for Runway 15 at 1448:36 LT, which the crew acknowledged shortly after.
Following this communication, no further radio contact was established. Surveillance data from ADS-B showed that at 1447:24 LT, while at 2,600 feet, the aircraft began to descend and reduce its speed. At 1449:06 LT, the aircraft began a right turn at an altitude of 1,025 feet. The descent continued until 1449:14 LT, when the last recorded data transmission showed the aircraft at an altitude of 550 feet. During this turn, the ground speed was measured between 146 and 154 knots.
The aircraft subsequently impacted the ground at Persiaran Elmina, Elmina, Shah Alam. The impact and the following fire resulted in the total destruction of the plane. The accident resulted in ten fatalities, comprising all eight occupants of the aircraft and two bystanders on the ground.
Findings
Data indicates the aircraft was in a descending right turn prior to the final recorded transmission and subsequent impact.
