What happened
On a positioning flight originating from Warwick Airport, a twin engine airplane experienced a catastrophic loss of control while approaching runway 14 at Oakey Airfield. The incident occurred at 14:26 local time. During the final approach phase, the aircraft veered off its intended path and struck a grassy area situated approximately 2 km from the airfield. The impact caused the aircraft to burst into flames.
Findings
There were no survivors of the accident. The crash resulted in two fatalities, involving both the pilot and the second occupant. The aircraft's descent into the vegetation and the subsequent fire were the primary elements of the impact.
