Accident
A twin-engine airplane departed Altoona Airport at 0328 local time. Minutes after takeoff, the pilot informed air traffic control that he was initiating a descent toward Philadelphia Airport, located 172 miles east of his position. Approximately one hour later, the pilot became disoriented and lost control of the aircraft. The airplane crashed in an open field in Reynoldsdale. The pilot and one passenger were killed, while a second passenger sustained serious injuries.
