What happened
On the date of the incident, an aircraft was performing a scheduled flight originating from Tampa and destined for Detroit. The flight was being operated on behalf of the Detroit City Police. Upon arrival at Coleman A. Young Airport, the aircraft touched down on runway 15.
Following the landing, the aircraft experienced issues maintaining deceleration within the available runway length. This led to a runway excursion where the plane overran the end of the pavement and came to a halt. Although the aircraft sustained damage that was determined to be beyond repair, there were no injuries reported among the six occupants. All individuals on board were able to exit the aircraft safely.
Findings
- The aircraft was unable to stop within the remaining distance of the runway after landing.
- The incident resulted in a total loss of the aircraft due to the extent of the structural damage.
