What happened
On the evening of the incident, a twin engine aircraft departed from Canouan Island Airport at 18:42 local time, bound for Kingstown, Saint Vincent & Grenadines. The flight was carrying two people: the pilot and one passenger. During the initial climb, air traffic control instructed the pilot to provide a report once the aircraft had transitioned over Bequia Island.
Following the passage over Bequia, the pilot established contact with ATC, stating the aircraft was maintaining an altitude of 1,100 feet and estimated arrival in Kingstown in approximately four minutes. However, at 18:53 local time, the aircraft crashed into the sea under circumstances that remain undetermined.
Search and rescue operations were initiated following the loss of contact. The following morning, small amounts of debris were spotted floating on the ocean surface. Despite the efforts of rescue teams, no trace of the two occupants was recovered. After several days of searching, all search and rescue operations were officially terminated without locating the wreckage.
