Accident Overview
A glider accident occurred on June 19, 2025, in the Alpine region near the Klimmspitze and Schwellenkar areas. The pilot, the sole occupant, sustained fatal injuries, and the aircraft was destroyed.
Flight Details
The glider departed from the Agathazeller Moos glider airfield at approximately 8:35 a.m. local time. The intended flight was a cross-country trip into the Alps. No technical irregularities or other disturbances were reported up to about two minutes before the last position recording.
Sequence of Events
During the final minutes of the flight, the glider experienced rapid altitude loss in the area between Klimmspitze and Schwellenkar. According to ground marks, the first contact with terrain occurred on a ridge above Schwellenkar. Subsequently, the left wing partially tore off, causing the glider to become uncontrollable. It then collided with rock formations and was destroyed.
Damage and Injuries
The glider sustained catastrophic damage, including a partial separation of the left wing. The pilot was fatally injured in the accident.
