Slovak Investigation of Tecnam P2002 Sierra MK II Crash at Nový Gúg (OK-YUU)

Incident Overview and Aircraft Details On 12 June 2022, a Tecnam P2002 Sierra MK II, registration OK-YUU-83, operated by F AIR, spol. s.r.o., crashed into a cornfield approximately 4.3 km east of Komoča airfield. The aircraft, a two-seat, single-engine, low-wing ultra-light aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of 600 kg, was destroyed in the accident. The flight was a demonstration flight under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) without a flight plan, carrying the Pilot in Command (PIC) and a client. ## Flight Sequence and Accident Dynamics The flight began at 08:39 UTC with a takeoff from Runway 32. The crew conducted maneuvers including low-speed flight and turns. At 08:43:12, the aircraft entered a steep climb and subsequently experienced a right wing drop, reaching a bank angle of 84.27°. The crew recovered at 08:43:26 at 375 m AGL. During a subsequent maneuver, the aircraft entered an unusual attitude and a right-hand spin from which the crew could not recover, leading to a collision with the ground. ## Casualties and Investigation The client, a 66-year-old Slovak citizen, died from injuries sustained in the crash. The PIC, a 58-year-old Czech citizen, was hospitalized in serious condition. The investigation was conducted by the Slovak Air and Naval Investigation Unit (Letecký a námorný vyšetrovací útvar) under the authority of the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic, in accordance with EU Regulation 996/2010 and ICAO Annex 13.
