Factual Information
On 22 February 2023, a Diamond DA-42 Twin Star, registration OK-ZZK, operated by JetAge s.r.o and owned by Tatra-Leasing s.r.o, was involved in an accident in Trenčianske Stankovce, part Brečné, Slovakia. The flight was a general aviation transit from Trenčín Airport (LZTN) to Piešťany Airport (LZPT) and onward to Bratislava Airport (LZIB). On board were a pilot-instructor, a pilot in training, and two passengers. All four occupants were killed; the aircraft was destroyed by impact.
Flight Sequence
The crew had begun multi-engine training on 21 February 2023 at LZIB. On 22 February, after completing training flights near Trenčín Airport (LZTR), they landed at LZTN. After a break, they planned to fly to LZPT to drop off passengers and then to LZIB for the pilot in training's final check. Witness reports and radar data indicate they initially intended a left turn toward the "priesmyk" and then changed to perform circuits on Runway 04 at LZTN. The last radar positions show the aircraft on a westerly heading with decreasing indicated airspeed and altitude. At 12:18 UTC, the aircraft collided with terrain.
Post-crash
Emergency services responded; all occupants were found trapped in the wreckage. The aircraft was destroyed. No technical problems were reported by the crew before the accident.
