Location and Time
The accident occurred near the construction site of Prese Acqua Riale Carcale in the municipality of Gordola, Canton Ticino, Switzerland, on 6 December 2017 at 10:50 local time.
Aircraft Information
The helicopter involved was an Airbus Helicopters AS 350 B3, registered as HB-ZOI. The holder and owner was Heli-TV SA, based at Lodrino Airport.
Flight Details
The flight was conducted under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) as an aerial work operation. Both departure and destination were the Riale Carcale site. According to the preliminary report, the crew consisted of a pilot (Italian citizen, born 1981) and one flight assistant. No other crew, passengers, or third parties were on board.
Accident Sequence
After landing on the construction site landing pad, the helicopter lifted off and subsequently overturned.
Damage
The helicopter was destroyed. The ground was only lightly marked.
Investigation
The Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (SISI) opened an investigation. This preliminary report does not include a probable cause.
