The Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board has launched an inquiry into a serious airprox incident involving two light aircraft near La-Tour-de-Peilz.

What happened

On April 21, 2022, at approximately 15:20 local time, a dangerous close encounter occurred between two powered aircraft over Lake Geneva. The incident took place roughly 2 km south-southeast of La-Tour-de-Peilz.

The first aircraft, a TB 10 with registration HB-KAU, was conducting a private flight under Visual Flight Rules (VFR). This aircraft had departed from Grenchen Airport (LSZG) and was on a return flight to the same location, carrying one pilot and one passenger.

The second aircraft involved was a Robin DR 400/180 R, registered as HB-KBK. This aircraft was operating a private VFR flight, having departed from Gruyères Aerodrome (LSGT) with the intention of returning to the same airfield.
