Incident Overview
On 6 December 2020, at 15:00 local time, a serious incident occurred at St. Gallen-Altenrhein Airport (LSZR) in Switzerland. The aircraft involved was a Pilatus PC-12/47E, registered as HB-FXN, owned and operated by Winglets Aviation AG of Zurich. The flight was conducted under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) as a private operation. The flight originated from Grenchen Airport (LSZG) with St. Gallen-Altenrhein as its destination. On board were one pilot and one passenger.
Occurrence
During an instrument approach to runway 10, the pilot initiated a go-around. Subsequently, the aircraft did not follow the published missed approach procedure. Instead, it repeatedly entered unusual flight attitudes.
Aftermath
No injuries were sustained by the pilot, passenger, or any third parties. The aircraft remained undamaged, and no third-party property damage occurred. The Swiss Safety Investigation Board (SUST) opened an investigation and released a preliminary report on 14 January 2021. The report contains no final conclusions or determination of probable cause.
