Incident Overview
On 2 June 2022 at approximately 16:00 local time, an Airbus Helicopters H125 (model AS 350 B3) was conducting a sling load operation near Matt, in the canton of Glarus, Switzerland. The flight was operating under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) as an aerial work mission. During the operation, the crew noticed that the frame of the helicopter's cargo hook had ruptured.
Aircraft and Crew Information
The helicopter, registered as HB-ZPA, was owned by Heli-Linth Invest AG and operated by Heli-Linth AG, based at Flugplatzareal 2, 8753 Mollis. The crew consisted of one pilot and one task specialist. No passengers or third parties were on board. The flight originated and was scheduled to land at Matt.
Damage
The aircraft sustained slight damage. There was no damage to ground personnel or property.
Investigation Status
The Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (STSB) has opened an investigation. This preliminary notification does not contain conclusions or a probable cause. An in-depth investigation is in progress.
