What happened
On June 27, 2025, a Pilatus PC-12/45, registered as CP-3205, was conducting a flight from El Trompillo Airport (SLET) to Oromomo Airstrip in Bolivia. While approximately 12 nautical miles from the destination, the aircraft experienced a sudden engine failure. The pilot declared an emergency and attempted to reach the Oromomo Airstrip. During the landing sequence, the aircraft arrived at the runway without engine power. As the aircraft touched down, it veered off the runway, resulting in considerable damage to the airframe.
The investigation
The investigation into the incident was initiated by the Bolivian Civil Aviation Accident and Incident Investigation Unit (Unidad AIG). The inquiry focused on the circumstances surrounding the loss of power during the final approach and the subsequent loss of directional control on the runway surface.
