Accident Overview
On 25 January 2021, at approximately 11:20 local time, a Robinson R44 II helicopter, registered HB-ZSA, was involved in an accident near Sevelen, Canton St. Gallen, Switzerland. The helicopter was operated by Valair AG of Balzers, Liechtenstein.
Flight Details
The flight was a check flight conducted under Visual Flight Rules (VFR). It departed from Heliport Balzers (LSXB) and was destined to return to the same heliport. On board were one flight instructor and one flight student.
Accident Sequence
Shortly after departure, the helicopter struck the ground hard and then tipped onto its left side.
Damage and Injuries
The helicopter sustained substantial damage. The crew (flight instructor and flight student) suffered minor injuries. There were no passengers. Light ground damage was reported. No third-party injuries occurred.
