Incident Overview
A flight from San Borja was on approach to Rurrenabaque when the crew encountered problems with the landing gear, which failed to lock down. The uneventful flight up to that point was interrupted by the indication that all three green landing gear indicator lights were not illuminated on the cockpit panel.
Diversion and Preparations
In response to the gear malfunction, the captain decided to divert to La Paz-El Alto Airport. Rescue teams at the airport were alerted in advance of the aircraft's arrival.
Landing and Runway Excursion
After touchdown at La Paz-El Alto, the left main landing gear collapsed. The aircraft veered to the left, departing the runway before coming to rest in a grassy area.
Outcome
All eight occupants on board evacuated the aircraft without injury. The aircraft itself sustained damage beyond repair.
