Accident Details
On 30 December 2023 at 07:25 UTC, a Cessna 560 XLS, registration TC-LLL, owned and operated by Kalyon Güven Hava Taşımacılığı A.Ş., departed from runway 34 at Diyarbakır Airport (LTCC) after landing and came to rest off the left side of the runway. The aircraft was on a commercial air transport flight from Istanbul Atatürk Airport (LTBA). On board were two pilots, one cabin crew member, and seven passengers, including one infant. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
Flight and Crew Information
The flight departed Istanbul at 05:51 UTC (08:51 local). According to the flight plan, alternate airports were Elazığ (LTCA) and Şanlıurfa GAP (LTCS). The aircraft carried 5,300 lb of fuel. The crew consisted of a captain and a first officer. The captain stated in a written report that before departure, the weather for Diyarbakır at the estimated arrival time of 10:20 local was reported as CAVOK. During approach, the crew listened to the ATIS, which was normal. They conducted an ILS approach to runway 34 and received landing clearance from the tower.
Meteorological Conditions
Upon reaching minimums, the crew reported seeing the runway and continued the descent. The first officer later stated that visibility was intermittent near minimums, with moving fog occasionally obscuring the runway. The second pilot reported that the runway surface had frost and ice, which caused the aircraft to skid left after touchdown.
Accident Sequence
The landing was normal initially, but shortly after touchdown, the aircraft began to slide. The captain applied brakes but they were insufficient. The aircraft veered to the left and exited the runway. After coming to a stop, the crew secured the aircraft and evacuated the passengers. The cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and flight data recorder (FDR) were analyzed by the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU).
Damage
The aircraft sustained severe damage. Inspection revealed damage to the left outer wing spar and skins, left inner and outer flaps, left aileron, center wing upper and lower skins, wing leading edges, left main landing gear assembly including its actuator and attachment element, nose landing gear group, and left vent.
Findings
No probable cause was stated in the official report.
