Incident Overview
On August 14, 2016, at approximately 18:20 UTC, a Let L-410 UVP-LW with registration OM-DAC experienced an incident while landing at Kolín Airport (LKKO). The aircraft, operated by Tatra FLEET, s.r.o., touched down on Runway 03R with its tricycle hydraulic landing gear in the retracted position. Following initial contact with the runway surface, the aircraft skidded and veered to the right, eventually coming to a stop on the grassy strip beyond the right edge of the runway.
Operational Context
The flight was part of a series of parachute drop operations conducted under Visual Flight Rules (VFR). The crew consisted of a Pilot-in-Command (PIC) serving as the non-flying pilot and a First Officer (F/O) acting as the pilot flying. During the final approach, the F/O initiated a maneuver to adjust for altitude and wind conditions, subsequently transferring control to the PIC. Both pilots reported that they did not recall hearing the gear warning siren prior to touchdown, although the "Gear Down" signal was illuminated on the panel after the aircraft came to rest.
Damage Assessment
The impact caused significant damage to the lower fuselage and landing gear components. Specifically, the fairings of the left and right main gear, the main gear locks, and the brakes were damaged. Additionally, the covers and side walls of the nose gear bay sustained impact damage. No damage was reported to the wings, engines, or tail surfaces. The aircraft was subsequently raised, the gear was extended, and it was towed to a parking stand for further inspection.
