What happened

Following a routine flight from Athens, the crew of a twin engine airplane was directed by air traffic control to divert from Cairo International Airport to Port Said due to unfavorable weather conditions at the original destination. As the aircraft was performing its approach to the Port Said airfield, the plane became uncontrollable and descended into Manzala Lake, which is situated a short distance from the airport.

The accident resulted in eight fatalities, consisting of all four crew members and four passengers on board. Additionally, 18 other occupants sustained injuries during the impact.
