What happened
Shortly after departing from the Mérida-Alberto Carnevalli Airport, an aircraft entered a fatal descent while attempting to climb. Approximately seven minutes following takeoff, the plane made contact with trees and subsequently crashed within a heavily wooded region on Mt Paramo Los Conejos. The accident occurred roughly 17 km north of the departure airfield.
Findings
The crash resulted in 13 fatalities, which included one member of the flight crew. In addition to the loss of life, the accident caused 34 injuries among the other people on board. The sequence of events indicates that the impact with vegetation occurred during the climbing phase of the flight.
