What happened
During a recent operation at Jalal-Abad Airport, an aircraft experienced a runway excursion following its arrival. Upon completing the landing phase, the pilot was unable to bring the plane to a halt within the available runway length. As the aircraft continued past the end of the paved surface, it overran the runway and subsequently lost its undercarriage.
The incident resulted in no fatalities or injuries among those on board. However, the impact of the overrun caused extensive structural damage to the airframe, rendering the aircraft a total loss.
Findings
- The primary factor in the accident was the inability to stop the aircraft within the remaining runway distance after touchdown.
