An aircraft crashed into the slope of Mount Carpish six minutes after departing Tingo María Airport, resulting in no survivors.
What happened
Shortly after departing from Tingo María Airport, an aircraft entered a cloud layer at an altitude of 13,000 feet. Approximately six minutes into the flight, the plane collided with the side of Mount Carpish, situated roughly 45 km southwest of the departure airfield. The wreckage remained undiscovered in a remote area until March 5.
There were 31 fatalities among the occupants of the aircraft during the impact.
Findings
The investigation determined that the accident was the result of controlled flight into terrain while the aircraft was operating in instrument meteorological conditions.
