On October 7, 1935, at approximately 2:19 a.m., a United Air Lines Transport Corporation Boeing 247-D crashed about 10 miles west-northwest of the airport at Cheyenne, Wyoming. The aircraft unexpectedly struck the ground while descending, resulting in the deaths of all three crew members and eight passengers, and the complete destruction of the airplane.
