ACI Europe sets out wider sustainability strategy for airports
Europe's airport association has published a new sustainability strategy that goes beyond carbon reduction to cover biodiversity, resource use and climate adaptation. The group says 328 airports now have public net-zero plans.

ACI Europe, the European airport industry body, has set out a new sustainability strategy. "Sustainability Strategy 2.0" keeps decarbonisation as a goal but widens its scope to take in biodiversity, resource use and adaptation to the effects of climate change.
Seven areas are covered. Beyond emissions, these include how airports affect their surroundings and questions of accessibility, an effort to give airports a broader framework for their sustainability work.
The association also reported progress on climate targets. It said 328 European airports have public net-zero plans, covering close to 83 percent of passenger traffic, and that a further 297 hold certification under the Airport Carbon Accreditation programme.
The figures and the strategy's scope come from the association. No deadlines or binding requirements were given in the material published.
