Aena airport network handles 41.3 million passengers in August
Aena's global airport network reported 41.38 million passengers in August 2026, up 4.7% year on year, while cargo volumes fell. The Spanish operator also posted gains across its year-to-date figures.

Aena's international airport network handled 41,381,404 passengers in August 2026, a rise of 4.7% compared with the same month a year earlier, according to figures published by the operator.
Aircraft movements across the group reached 330,526, up 4.5%. Cargo traffic moved in the other direction, falling 5.7% to 116,723 tonnes.
The group comprises 46 airports and two heliports in Spain, London Luton, Leeds Bradford and 17 airports in Brazil.
For the first eight months of 2026, the network carried 272,247,393 passengers, an increase of 4.1% on the same period in 2025. Aircraft movements totalled 2,308,307, up 3.7%, while cargo reached 979,844 tonnes, down 1.2%.
In Spain alone, airports managed by Aena recorded 34,890,784 passengers in August, up 4.7%, along with 273,292 aircraft movements, up 4.3%. Spanish cargo traffic fell 5.2% to 104,356 tonnes.
Across January to August, Spanish facilities handled 225,543,599 passengers, up 4.1%. Movements rose 4.4% to 1,890,414, and cargo totalled 878,168 tonnes, an increase of 1.8%.
Madrid-Barajas led the Spanish network in August with 6,544,815 passengers, a gain of 4.8%, and 39,606 operations, up 6.5%.
