Air Astana and Boeing host sustainable aviation fuel workshop in Almaty
Air Astana, Boeing and Istanbul Technical University held a workshop in Almaty on sustainable aviation fuel in Kazakhstan, with the country's aviation authority, Almaty Airport and KazMunayGas-Aero taking part.

The session focused on producing, introducing and regulating sustainable aviation fuel, or SAF, in Kazakhstan.
Air Astana says it aims for net-zero emissions by 2050. Figures it cites from the industry body IATA put aviation's direct contribution to Kazakhstan's economy at 2.1 billion US dollars, roughly 1.8 billion euros, supporting 44,700 jobs. Counting tourism and other effects, that contribution reaches 6.4 billion US dollars, or about 5.5 billion euros.
The workshop is the latest step in the carrier's cooperation with Boeing on sustainable fuel in the country.
