Air Canada and United Airlines plan to open six seasonal transborder routes in summer 2027, part of a wider effort to renew and grow the joint business agreement the two carriers run across the Canada–US border. The amended agreement still needs regulatory approval.

Air Canada will fly three of the services. On Edmonton–San Francisco it will upsize to the Airbus A220, adding seats. Its new Edmonton–Newark link puts the city in reach of the New York area and feeds United's hub connections.

United will operate Newark–St John's seasonally, bringing back a route absent for more than ten years. It is also adding Denver flights to Ottawa and Québec City, will add frequency on Washington Dulles–Québec City, and will lift daily seat capacity on Denver–Winnipeg by 65%.

The two airlines have applied to Transport Canada to approve the revised agreement. First set up in 2022, the arrangement lets them align schedules and sell combined fares and connections over each other's networks.

Air Canada said the partnership has produced 20 new transborder routes since it began and supports more than 1,200 connecting itineraries. It also said roughly two million passengers a year connect to or from the United States through its domestic network, which it says helps sustain service to more than 50 Canadian communities.
