Air Sénégal keeps leased 737-800 on wet lease after buying the aircraft

Air Sénégal has bought its first Boeing 737-800 of its own, but it will not fly the aircraft yet. The jet remains in service on a wet-lease basis until certification is complete and the aircraft, registered LY-SEI, is added to Air Sénégal's air operator certificate, according to Getjet Airlines.

The Lithuanian group called the sale part of a longer-term cooperation. Getjet is also supporting Air Sénégal with asset management, maintenance and supply-chain services.

Getjet said the arrangement follows a model it is increasingly applying: aircraft are first operated on wet lease, later on damp lease, before the aircraft and its operation pass fully to the airline concerned.
