Airbus A330neo deliveries hit by tail section inspections

Airbus A330neo deliveries were disrupted through the summer because of checks on the aircraft's horizontal tail plane, Bloomberg reported. Staff had to inspect every A330neo, which slowed the production system.

Official delivery data from Airbus showed no A330neo aircraft were handed over in June or July 2026. August figures have not yet been released, but Bloomberg said only a single A330neo was delivered that month, to Starlux Airlines.

Before August 2026, Airbus had delivered nine A330neos during the year. There were no deliveries in January or February, followed by three in March, two in April, and four in May.

Airbus said in a statement that the root cause had been identified and A330 deliveries had resumed. The company described the issue as isolated.

Airbus aims to deliver around four A330neos per month based on earlier projections, with plans to increase that to five a month in 2029. It is not yet clear how quickly deliveries will accelerate as the backlog is worked through.

Overall, Airbus delivered 67 aircraft in July 2026 to 39 customers. Total deliveries for the year to date stood at 418, compared with 373 at the same point in 2025. The company reaffirmed its target of around 870 commercial aircraft deliveries in 2026.
