Airbus A330neo Deliveries Slowed by Tailplane Quality Issue
Airbus has resumed A330neo deliveries after a quality problem affecting the horizontal stabilizer during production slowed handovers in June and July, with only one aircraft delivered in August.
Airbus hit a quality problem on the A330neo that stopped deliveries during June and July. Bloomberg reported the issue involved the horizontal stabilizer, and the manufacturer said it had to inspect aircraft during production, which slowed monthly deliveries.
Deliveries have since resumed. Airbus told Bloomberg the cause had been identified and described the problem as isolated. In August, the company delivered one A330neo, to Starlux Airlines, Bloomberg reported.
An Airbus spokesperson told aeroTELEGRAPH that this was purely a production issue and that there is currently no need for inspections of aircraft already in service. No service bulletin has been issued for A330neo operators.
Only nine A330neo aircraft were delivered in the first five months of the year: three in March, two in April, and four in May. All deliveries this year have been of the A330-900 variant.
