Airbus is alerting airline customers to a quality defect that could reduce corrosion resistance inside the fuselage structure of hundreds of A321neo jets, people familiar with the matter said. The issue covers aircraft already delivered to operators as well as single-aisle airframes still in the manufacturer's factories.
It has not been reported before. According to those people, it poses no safety issue for Airbus operators or the flying public.
More than 500 aircraft are understood to be affected, and the problem adds pressure to the manufacturer's delivery schedule.
