Airhart Avionics Shifts Focus to Simplify Flying

Airhart Aeronautics, a Long Beach, California company, is now selling an avionics system meant to make flying safer and easier. It can be installed in any experimental light sport aircraft (E-LSA) or MOSAIC-category aircraft. The move is a pivot from the company's original plan to design and sell its own clean-sheet personal aircraft, though that remains a long-term goal.

Founder and CEO Nikita Ermoshkin started the company after earning his private pilot certificate in 2020. He previously worked at SpaceX and flew out of Hawthorne Municipal Airport (KHHR). The company's vision is to improve the pilot-machine interface first rather than waiting for an all-new airframe. Aviation improvements are often incremental, the article notes, with occasional profound changes such as GPS, whole airframe parachutes, and glass cockpits. Airhart aims to be the next such leap.
