Akasa Air is in talks with Boeing over an order for more than 200 737 MAX aircraft, according to people familiar with the matter cited in a report by Bloomberg. The Indian carrier, which began commercial operations in 2022, already has 183 of the type outstanding on its order book.
The discussions point to a plan to lock in a steady stream of deliveries through the coming decade. The airline is seeking to expand its share of the air travel market through the large-scale addition of single-aisle aircraft, and aims to keep growing its fleet beyond 2032.
No agreement has been reached, and the talks remain at a negotiating stage. Neither the airline nor the manufacturer has commented on the discussions.
