Amazon Air pauses 21 Air operations after fatal Miami runway accident
A Boeing 767 freighter operating for Amazon Air overran a runway in Miami on 6 September and struck a ground vehicle, killing five people. Amazon Air says it has paused flights with the carrier 21 Air while the investigation continues.
Amazon Air has suspended its cooperation with the freight carrier 21 Air, the airline said, after a fatal accident in Miami involving a Boeing 767.
The aircraft was operating as flight 7598 with Amazon packages on board when it overran the end of the runway while landing on 6 September. It stopped about 396 metres beyond the runway and struck a vehicle belonging to an aircraft cleaning company. Five people in the vehicle died. Five others were injured.
Amazon Air said it reviewed the circumstances after the accident and decided to pause flight operations with 21 Air for the time being. It said it will continue to support the ongoing investigation.
