American Airlines will drop five routes in 2027, according to schedule changes filed in a Cirium Diio update, trimming growth it had planned for next summer.

Three of the routes are domestic and two are international, spread across four of the carrier's hubs. Phoenix–Provo, Utah, Miami–Tulum, Mexico, and Miami–Montreal end in January 2027. Chicago O'Hare–Lincoln, Nebraska, stops in April. Dallas/Fort Worth–Albany, New York, will not return next summer.

The Fort Worth-based airline said the moves are targeted actions to strengthen the business. A spokesperson said American will moderate its planned growth next summer and continues to evaluate its network, with attention on product investment, reliability and the destinations customers value most. No reasons were given for the individual route changes.

One route in the update is not being dropped outright. New York LaGuardia–Bozeman, Montana, moves to New York-JFK, which American said will let it raise frequency from once weekly to four flights per week. The JFK–Bozeman flights start June 18, 2027, with Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

American also plans to resume JFK–Seattle service on April 6, with two daily flights flown by Airbus A321neo aircraft.
