American Airlines is reworking the interiors of its Airbus A321T transcontinental jets, removing the specialized cabins that gave the sub-fleet a 102-seat layout and replacing them with denser configurations. The reconfigured aircraft are to carry roughly 190 to 196 passengers by 2027.
The change ends the carrier's use of a small, dedicated premium sub-fleet on transcontinental service. Under the fleet plan described, premium seating will instead be spread across a much larger narrowbody operation.
